Blue Spruce is an indie alternative rock band based out of New York City that is passionate about making innovative music, videos, and making a positive change in the world through what we create.
Our lyrical themes are fresh and exciting, while our music is catchy and ambitious while remaining accessible and interesting to both the casual listener and the more seasoned musician. We seek to catch the eye in our videos with striking visuals that reinforce the message of our songs and at the same time expand the creative boundaries of the medium.

We are thrilled to share that we have released two of the tunes from our upcoming EP a wee bit early - we couldn’t keep you waiting any longer!
“Twist the Knife” and “Ghost in Your Embrace” are now available on just about all streaming platforms for your listening pleasure. Check them out and tell us what you think - IN PERSON, at our headlining show this Thursday at Drom!

Blue Spruce EP Release Show

Blue Spruce is thrilled to share that we will be headlining the stage at DROM on August 29th, 2024. Joined by two other fantastic rock bands, we will be celebrating the release of our latest EP, a collection of six songs written together by the band over the last few months.
The EP itself will be performed alongside many other classic Blue Spruce tunes, including some we haven't pulled off the shelf in a while - making this a truly one-of-a-kind show!
Other exciting details will be shared as the date draws closer, but there's no reason not to grab your tickets now before it's too late 🙂

New Year, New Spruce

We have reached 2024, friends! A new year can usher in new resolutions, fresh promises, and sometimes even new music! While our newest music is still in the works for the time being, we are excited to share several other new things that you can enjoy right now.
First off, we have just launched our brand new lyrics page on the website! Have you been wanting to sing along to our songs, or are you just wondering what it is that I’m babbling off so passionately all the time? Either way, you can now check out the lyrics to almost all of our songs right here. Spoiler alert - most of our songs are sad.
Speaking of lyrics, we just released a new lyric video for Cobblestone on YouTube - something to tide over your visual appetite until we have a proper new music video to share. You can check that video out on our YouTube channel, or right here on our videos page!
Next up, we have a brand new piece of merch available - a Time EP analog wall clock to help spruce up your home! You can check that out as well as other new Blue Spruce-branded products - like phone cases, spiral notebooks, and drinking mugs - on our RedBubble page. Happy shopping :)
Lastly, we have SHOWS lined up on the horizon. We know how you love concerts, so we’re continuing to try to do them bigger and better! We will be triumphantly returning to The Cutting Room on March 15th, but you may be seeing us in Brooklyn before then…stay tuned for more on that.

Summer Shows and new music

Blue Spruce is extremely excited to announce that we now have not one, not two, but THREE shows lined up and on the books! The first will see us return to our favorite midtown bar, Connolly’s, on July 14th at 10:00pm - get your online tickets now!
This show in particular will be particularly memorable, as it will coincide with the release of some NEW MUSIC! We are very excited to announce that “Time” - a four-track EP with a music video to boot - will be out and available for streaming and purchase on all platforms on July 14th.

Following our successful return to the stage at Bowery Electric, we are planning a string of shows around NYC through the year, starting with a return to our favorite midtown Manhattan Irish Pub, Connolly’s! When presale tickets become available, you can buy them here.
In the meantime, we’ve been adding the finishing touches to ~ The Time EP ~.
Our next musical release, The Time EP is a collection of four songs which delve into chronology-themed topics.
Accompanying it’s release, we will be releasing an animated music video on our YouTube channel of the main track, “All A Loan”, for your viewing pleasure! Stay tuned for a release date!
New Bandmates and new shows!

We are extremely excited to announce that Jonah Wolmark will be joining us as our new lead guitarist! Jonah’s arrival brings us back up to 5 band members, and you know what that means…and if you don’t, we’ll elaborate regardless.
Now that we’ve filled out our lineup, we are rehearsing and gearing up to play some more shows - including our next one at Bowery Electric on Feb. 16th! We’re planning a 45 minute set full of excitement, good grooves, and good vibes that kicks off at 7:00pm. You can find the pre-sale tickets for the show here!

2022 was a slow year for us, but do not be disheartened! There are many exciting things on the horizon for us - including our first show since last summer!
Miles and Matt will be returning to the stage of Arlene’s Grocery on Saturday, January 7th, to perform some classic tunes, some deep cuts, and more. We hope to see you there - you can find pre-sale tickets here!

Rehearsing and regrouping
June 21st, 2022
Some personnel changes in the band - bidding farewell to our lead guitarist Tim and having our new drummer Kyle take the place of longtime drummer Max - have made us take a step back from the limelight to regroup before we embark on our newest musical endeavors. As we rehearse with the new group, we are planning some late-summer shows and our next musical releases - which may or may not include a new single, music video, and maybe an album or two.
Okay, we won’t beat around the bush: our third album is well in the works and our next single, titled “All A Loan” and written by bass player Mike, should be released along with an animated music video by the end of the summer! In the meantime, be sure to keep an eye on our YouTube channel - we’ll be uploading more fresh (never frozen) content there soon.

The Disappear EP is live!
March 5th, 2021
Blue Spruce’s latest musical release, the Disappear EP, is now available on our music page, BandCamp, and SoundCloud. It includes a ‘radio edit’ of fan-favorite “Disappear”, as well as two brand new tunes - “Prequel” and “Silence” - that add additional dimension to the lyrical story.
“Prequel” includes a 35-piece orchestral accompaniment, arranged by Miles and thoughtfully implemented using experimental recording techniques.

Our latest animated music video has been released on YouTube! Featuring a haunted Tudor-Style mansion and hand-drawn versions of the band members, the video is a long overdue accompaniment to this fan-favorite song.
